New Small Business Training

The CITC Inc is pleased to announce that we will be commencing small business training courses in 2005. There will be four separate modules on offer and upon the successful completion of each module participants will be able to apply to the Office of Consumer & Business Affairs for a Restricted Builder's licence. These courses represent an excellent opportunity for both existing and potential small business operators to obtain the skills required for success in the competitive small business environment.

The individual modules are Research Business Opportunities, Establish Business & Legal requirements, Financial Planning and Business Planning. It is anticipated that it will take 190 hours to complete all of the modules.

Skills that participants will acquire and improve on include researching and developing a business plan, market analysis and financial planning, pricing policies and profit projection, as well as an introduction to the Australian legal and tax systems for small business.

These courses are nationally accredited, so you can be assured that the courses will be of the highest standard. We expect that these courses will be subsidised for CITB Eligible workers after June (the change of financial year).

To register your interest in this course please email us at: info@citc.com.au to be placed on our contact list. This will ensure that you will be one of the first to know when this new training starts.

Loadshifting and Plant Assessments

Do you operate Loadshifting or Plant equipment? Do you need to get your Front End Loader, Forklift or Dozer ticket? What about a Backhoe, Excavator or Skid Steer ticket? All of these machines require a licence to legally operate them under State law. Workplace Services do conduct random ticket checks on sites, so it is in your interest to get your ticket!

If you have access to the equipment and can demonstrate your experience in operating the above (or other) machines, one of the CITC's trainers can come onto your site and as long as you successfully complete the assessment they can issue you with your ticket.

During your assessment you will be asked to demonstrate to the trainer that you are able to conduct routine checks, plan work, check equipment, shift loads, shut down equipment and secure site for loadshifting and plant equipment to operate safely. We have several plant and loadshifting trainers including Sab Feleppa, Don Whiting, John Rutter and Des Kelly.

Workplace Services will be releasing a publication on loadshifting safety early in 2005 and once this is released the CITC will distribute a small summary of the document in the eZine.

Please note that participants in plant and loadshifting assessments must have a current motor vehicle licence of a class suitable for specific equipment mass if used on roads or road related areas.

To register your interest in loadshifting and plant assessments please contact us at: info@citc.com.au or (08) 8443 6633 and ask to speak with Kylie or Nicole.
