AFSTC conduct the CITC's Confined Space, Breathing Apparatus, Fire Extinguisher and Dangerous Goods training.
AFSTC is involved with assisting private industry, commerce and government departments by providing expertise and training. Some of their projects, both in Australia and overseas, are in the following industries: Automotive Manufacturing, the Brewing Industry, Food Processing, Mining, Engineering, and Water Treatment.
One of the courses that the CITC uses AFSTC's services for is the Full Confined Space Course. This course takes 2 days to complete and includes the breathing apparatus component. By the end of the course participants are able to accurately identify hazards, carry out risk control, know how to operate self contained and airline breathing apparatus as well as teaching participants how to work safely in confined spaces.
The Breathing Apparatus Course takes 8 hours to complete. By the end of the course participants are familiar with the types of breathing apparatus used, the calculation of cylinder duration, the correct donning and operational procedures of the equipment and the recommissioning of sets for operation.
