CITC - The story so far...
In 1994 the CITC Inc consisted of Harry Ennis, a notepad
and a mobile phone. At the end of 2005 we have grown to be SA's leader in the construction training field,
employing 9 full time employees and a small army of contracted trainers.
Starting with our original address on Sturt Street in Adelaide's CBD, there have been three different homes for CITC with each having to be replaced due to our continuing growth. Currently, our head office is at 14 - 32 Transport Avenue, Netley, about 5kms from the heart of Adelaide.
Our Main Terrace Rooms
The Transport
Ave
site has 6 training rooms that are supplemented by our annex on Main Tce, Richmond and at DMI Tafe, Marleston.
We regularly conduct courses in regional SA
and have even
run a variety of courses in Indonesia and Vietnam.
Earlier this year we were proud to
launch our first non-SA based initiative,
C.I.T.C.N.T., to
provide services
to
the Northern Territory.
Originally the CITC's focus was on the construction field, however we now regularly conduct training for the mining, manufacturing, automotive, entertainment and wine industries.
We would like to thank all of our clients, from school leavers to multinational corporations - and everyone in between - for your continued support over the past 11 years.
We look forward to continuing to provide all of our clients with the best standard of service for many years to come.

The Long and the Short of the Greencard
It's our most popular course and there are some questions that just keep popping up, so here it is, the long and the short of the Greencard II:
Q: What is Greencard II:
The Short: The common OH&S site
induction.
The Long: The Greencard II is
the generic SA construction industry
common OHS & W
induction course suitable for all construction workers and supervisors that gives a general understanding of their OHS&W obligations. Once you have completed the Greencard II you will only need to have site specific hazards explained to you when you go on to a new site.
Q: Is the Greencard II a legal requirement to work on site?
The Short: No.
The Long: At the moment there is no legal requirement to have a Greencard in South Australia, however this may soon change. A site or site manager is within their rights to demand a Greencard II of anyone working
on their site.
Q: Is my Greencard II valid Australia wide?
The Short: No.
The Long: At present there is not an Australia wide agreement on the Greencard II. However, there thre is a general recognition of the SA Greencard II in most states. The exception being NSW where it is mandatory to complete their generic construction industry common OHS & W induction course.
Q: What is involved in the Greencard II course?
The Short: 4 short hours.
The Long: The course takes 4 hours. There is no practical component to the course and the assessment is a short pictorial or written exam.
Q: What is the difference between Greencard II and Greencard?
The Short: Greencard II is the revised version of the Greencard.
The Long: The Greencard was the original common OH&S site induction. Greencard II is similar; however changes have been made to reflect legislative changes. The Greencard was only valid for 2 years, whereas the Greencard II is valid for 3 years. The Greencard II course has an increased focus on Hazard Management.
Q: Can I get recognition of prior learning if I am a Safety Officer, union rep, etc?
The Short: No.
The Long: No.
Q: When can I do the course?
The Short: CITC Inc runs 2 sessions of the Greencard II course every Thursday (excluding public holidays).
The Long: There is a 7.30 am - 11.30 am session and a 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm session each Thursday. When we have the demand we will try to arrange for another course for the Wednesday or Friday morning.
We frequently book out all of our Greencard courses by the beginning of the week so it is absolutely essential that you call our office on 8443 6633 to make a booking.
Q: What are the pre-requisites for the Greencard II course?
The Short: Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
The Long: If English is your second language you can arrange to have an interpreter attend the course with you. If you would like to bring an interpreter you must let our Enrolments Officers know at the time of booking. Your interpreter can be a friend, relative or colleague, there is no need for a professional translator. If we are not told that you will require an interpreter before the day of the course, our trainers reserve the
right to turn you away from the course and request that you rebook with an interpreter.
An audit on the Greencard II was recently conducted (your company may have been contacted) and the results were extremely encouraging. Here are a couple of the findings:
- Over 21, 000 people in SA
have been issued with a Greencard II since January 2004
- More than 60% of the respondents think that the Greencard II should be compulsory
- 95% of respondents believed that their company's involvement with the Greencard II had a positive effect on OH&S practices

Please Welcome Our New Trainer...
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Stan Richards, the CITC's newest trainer. Stan worked for Santos for the past 25 years and in that time conducted much of their
in house training and assessments for their staff.
Stan will be training in Dogging and some Crane classes for the CITC.
The feedback that we have recieved from participants on Stan's courses has been extremely positive. His first course, Part Time Dogging, recieved some of the best comments we've had for a
trainer's first course at the centre,
including: 'Stan was understanding and very helpful', an 'enjoyable learning experience' and the office's favourite 'Stan Rocks!'
Welcome to the CITC Stan!
