The Long and the Short of Enrolling
Here are a couple of helpful hints to make
booking training sessions with CITC even easier and quicker.
Do I need a CITB number to make a booking with the CITC?
The Short: No
The Long: You only need the number if you are expecting to receive the CITB subsidised price for the training. If you (or your employee/s) have CITB ID numbers, please make sure that you have them when you call us to make a booking. If you do not provide us with a valid CITB number at the time of booking,
we
are unable to
offer you the subsidised price. Please note that each participant needs to have their own individual valid CITB ID number for the subsidies to apply.
Do I need to speak with Harry to make a booking?
The Short: No
The Long:
When you call CITC the person who answers your call will be able to quickly decide who you need to speak to in relation to your enquiry. Generally, Nicole and Kylie will pick up your call and be able to deal with any questions that you may have.
Who do
I speak to if I want on-site/in-house/group training?
The Short: Chris
The Long: When you call the office, make sure that you let whoever answers the phone know that you have a group of people that you wish to get trained together. That way we can redirect your enquiry to Chris as quickly as possible.
What information does CITC need from me
to be able to make a booking?
The Short: All relevant information (see below).
The Long: If you are making a booking for yourself you will need to provide your first and last names, a postal address, a phone number, a valid CITB number (if applicable) and your S.A. drivers licence if you are booking on to a driving course. If you are booking on an employee you will need to provide their first and last names, their CITB numbers (if applicable) and
a contact person for all paperwork to be sent to at the business.
How much notice does CITC need to book me on to a course?
The Short: It depends.
The Long: We can book you or your employee
on to a course right up until the minute it begins, providing that there are places available! Many of our courses book out well in advance of the first day. If you are interested in attending a
course please call us to check its availability on (08) 8443 6633 or email info@citc.com.au.
Do I need to fill in any paperwork to be able to enrol?
The Short: Yes
The Long: You will need to read, sign and return the Terms and Conditions of your training to our office by the due date to be fully enrolled onto the course. The Terms and Conditions are sent with every course, except for Greeencard II, along with your letter of enrolment, invoice and course information. You will also need to fill in at least two forms during your training session to ensure that you understand the Privacy Agreement and so that we have all of the information we need to record your attendance at the training session.
If you have any other questions or if you would like to enrol in a course, please contact our office on (08) 8443 6633. To check our course schedule please click here

Who do you speak to about.......
We know that everyone likes to speak with Harry, but there are some areas where he is not the best person to talk to.
Chris is the CITC's Manager and she is responsible (among other things) for
group bookings, in-house training, making sure that the office staff behave themselves
and
our Quality
systems.
You can either call our office to speak with her on (08) 8443 6633, or email her at chris@citc.com.au.

DFEEST Training Provider Forums
DFEEST (the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology) held the First Training Provider Forum for 2006 on Wednesday 22nd March. These forums are open to anyone involved with training and are a good source of information and networking opportunities. This forum was on the Commonwealth/State training agreement and the recent COAG (Council of Australian Governments) decisions, which will affect all training providers.
The intention of this agreement is a package of measures designed to underpin a new genuinely national approach to apprenticeships, training and skills recognition, which will alleviate skill shortages currently evident in some parts of the economy.
Issues being addressed under the COAG (Coalition Of Australian Governments)
directive include:
¨
An outcomes based auditing model for RTOs (Registered Training Organisations)
to reflect the new standards
¨
The
implementation of full mutual recognition of skills
qualifications across the country – targeting licensed trades
¨
Develop an appropriate system for recognition of overseas qualifications
¨
Develop a system for portability and recognition of skills and training on Statement of Attainments
¨
Shortening the duration of apprenticeships where competencies are demonstrated
¨
Enabling School Based New Apprenticeships in all jurisdictions through removal of legislative, regulatory, industrial and education barriers
¨
Allowing intermediate or specialized qualifications as well as full apprenticeships where there is industry demand
¨
Achieve maximum flexibility in training for employers and individuals through better national RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
system
¨
Effective competition between training providers under the new VET legislation and agreements
¨
Targeted response in relation to the impacts of skills shortages on particular industries and regions through specific funding.
The action plan for these initiatives has an ambitious time frame as the agreement sees them all in place by December 2007 at the latest.
Anyone wishing to be on the email list of information about the training forums should register on quality@saugov.sa.gov.au and subscribe to their newsletter.
